Get your tix to see Tuesdays with Morrie this Wednesday night, April 16, at the Market House Theatre. This special preview performance benefits the March of Dimes. Executive Director Tom Dolan (above, left) stars in the show. He plays sportswriter and the book's author, Mitch Albom, opposite Don Maley, who plays Morrie Schwartz, Albom's former college professor.
And these guys are hot, hot, hot, no doubt about it! Look how cute they are!
The show is emotionally touching, yet filled with humor. While the story follows Schwartz during his last few years, Dolan and Maley agree that the message is definitely about life.
"My own father passed away three years ago, so a lot of this relates to how he died — he went with such class and dignity," Dolan says. "It was a moment for me to realize that life is cool. Enjoy it, do the things you want to do and leave nothing unsaid."
Maley has several favorite messages from the show, but one he takes to heart is that of bygones. "Anybody you're fighting with or feuding with, put an end to it," he says. "As Morrie would say, 'It's not who's right or who's wrong, it's that you love people.' Morrie made people his priority."
For director Phil Counts (that's him, above, also hot), the show serves as a reminder that after we're gone, our memory remains with those for whom we've made a difference. "If you really reach out to people and care about people, you don't really die," he says. "It's 2008, and Morrie is still very strong in Mitch Albom's life."
And in the lives of the 5 million folks who've bought the book and the countless others who've seen it performed on television and live on stage.
If you'd like to add yourself to that number, arrive at the Market House Theatre by 7 p.m. this Wednesday — that's when the doors open. The $20 ticket price includes the show, refreshments, T-shirt and door prizes. For more info, call Dolan at 443.8603.
The show officially opens Thursday and runs through the weekend, and again next Thursday through the weekend. Visit the Market House Theatre Web site or iList Paducah for dates and times, or call 444.6828.
The crew is cute, too, by the way...
That's Adam Gilliam, above.
