The Laurel Foundation: June 6 Rally at Renee's

Is she just the cutest? Meet Laurel Dortch, daughter of Jay and Cheryl Dortch of Louisville and granddaughter of Nat and Jo Dortch of Paducah. On Dec. 13, 2004, Laurel, then just 5, was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called PNET (Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor). She spent most of the next nine months at Kosair Children's Hospital where she endured three surgeries and 14 chemo and 25 radiation treatments.

The good news is that this sweet little girl has had healthy scans since Aug. 22, 2006. To celebrate, she and her family created The Laurel Foundation, a 501c3 that has raised more than $43,000 for Kosair's Pediatric Oncology Unit, CureSearch and Camp Quality.

On Friday, June 6, they're hosting a Rally at Renee's, 2946 Cairo Rd., with refreshments, entertainments and an auction. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. Check out some of the great auction items so far:

• Segway Personal Transporter
• Mission Skateshop Skateboard Setup
• 2 Dinner Cruises
• Fishing Trip to Florida
• 2 Golf Outings (Paducah and Louisville)
• NFL Package - Fan Package + Lower Level Seating @ Tennessee Titans for Several Games
• Seaworld Tickets
• One-Week Stay @ Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Condo - Beachfront

More info is on the Web site, including a reservations form. Be sure to stop by and say hello to the very brave Laurel!
