We're Having a PARTY!

Just a reminder. Tonight. 9 p.m. di Frat's. DJUK. Tony Foo Yong. Paparazzi. Complimentary drinky. Cupcakes. Super cute people. Special prizes. And surprises.

Oh, yeah, and our BIRTHDAYS!

Come help Robyn, Laura K and I celebrate another year of opportunity...and the big unveil of GTG! We hope to see you there!

Date's Saved!

I just swiped this from Laura K's blog. She's managing the Chamber's Trade Show this year. Last year's was fantastic! iList Paducah will definitely be there again. If you're interested in a booth, call Laura at 703.7998!

That's My Prerogative! Duh-Dah-Duh-Dah-Duh

Who knew we had so many Bobby Brown fans in Western Kentucky? He's performing LIVE at Harrah's Saturday, Aug. 8. We sent out a sponsored email for Harrah's today and I've received TONS of emails from folks wanting free tix!

We have five pairs to give away. Send me an email if you want 'em and I'll put you in the drawing. I'll announce the winners on Monday! It's your prerogative! You can do whatcha wanna do!

The Twist, Tonight!

UPDATE: Shoulda known. "The Twist" comes from Suzanne!

I'm back in town, and I'm thirsty!

Please join me tonight for Business on the Rocks, with a Twist (or, as Kristin Williams now dubs it, "The Twist") tonight, Thursday, 5:30 p.m., di Fratelli's! We had a great turn out last week, so please come again tonight with your business ideas, career questions, success suggestions and powerful thirst, for a little informal brainstorming and inspirational beverages.

Hope to see you there!

Jewels, Wine AND $1,000 for Charity!

Louis Michelson is doing a really great thing. He's teaming up with iList Paducah and our friends at Paducah Life to host Wine, Women and Michelson's Jewelry. It's 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, in Max's Courtyard. And he'll have a representative from Rebecca there — Rebecca is the hottest line of Italian jewelry, and it's gorgeous. I checked it out a few weeks ago.

Everyone is invited to enjoy complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres, try on some great jewels AND, here's the really cool part: Your name will go into a drawing for TWO $500 cash awards. So two winners will each get $500, which Louis will then donate to their favorite charities.

That's amazingly cool, right?

So please plan to come. Gather up a big posse that shares your love for a particular charity and you'll increase your chances of being the lucky recipient of that Michelson generosity! See you there!

The new issue of Paducah Life is out and about, and it's such a hit that several retail locations sold out in just two days! No worries, though, they're all restocked with more fab copies.

Pick up yours and learn about Paducah's hoppin' supper clubs and culinary scene, some adventurous teens who decided to go at it survivor-style in the wilderness, Paducah's first mayor, teens who share what they cannot go to college without (we ran that one in the iLove Paducah Life section on iList Paducah last week) and more!

Oh, and check out Darlene's sweet column about our sweet new collaboration. It's on page 57.

Paducah Life is available at these fine establishments:

Walgreens
Paducah Pharmacy
BooksAMillion
BeBe's

First Drink's On Us!

ADDITION: Also in the paparazzi house: Glenn Hall! And, you know I'll be taking photos, too!

So I'm hoping you'd wanna come to our birthday party even without a bribe. But Robyn, Laura K and I are ready with the bribe, anyway. Come to our GTG Birthday Blowout 9 p.m., Friday, July 31, di Fratelli, and you'll get one of these — a super cute free drink ticket — compliments of, well, us.

Beats by DJ Urban Kobbb and Tony Foo Yong drinks by our favorite bartographer Brian Steffen. And dress to impress — paparazzi Keith Ford will be in the house!

Then, we'll have MORE news to share when we celebrity bartend at The Pasta House, 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 6. The wine tastings benefit iList Paducah sponsor St. Nicholas Family Clinic. $5 buys you five tickets, one for each glass of wine that you choose to sample. So be sure to stop by and enjoy some generous size pours from The GTGs!

We hope you can come to BOTH events, and we hope you like what we've got cookin' up! We sure do!

More Fun Festival Photos!

Photographer Keith Ford snapped up quite the busy social calendar this weekend! Check out these fun photos from Saturday night at the Paducah Summer Festival!

Battle on the Bricks!

The Summer Festival ROCKS! Last night was big fun — great bands, big crowds, rockin' fireworks and, right after, the Battle of my two favorite Deejays — DJUK and Tony Foo Yong.

Isn't he cute? DJ Urban Kobbb...

...and hottie Tony Foo Yong — dar-ling! Both had a great time playing last night in the Beer on the Bricks area. And it looks like everyone else had fun, too!

Congratulations to Chuck Tate and team! Excellent event!

Speaking of excellent events, both DJUK and TFY are playing at our three-way birthday party 9 p.m., Friday, July 31, at di Fratelli. It's for Robyn Shapiro, Laura K and me — we have a little announcement about something we're cookin' up — so please plan to stop in! Your first drink's on us!

20/30 Group Kickball Invitational!

Yep, I knew that 20/30 Group Kickball Invitational was gonna be brutal! Check out Keith Ford's fab sports photos of WKYQ/WDDJ vs. WPSD and the 20/30 Group vs. the 40/50 Group! I hear 20/30s barely beat the 40/50s (well, if you consider 10 points barely beating....). I don't know about the rest of the scores. Use the comment button below if you know how the other teams did!

They Were Shaken AND Stirred!

The Harrah's Rooftop Martini Party this past Friday was a GREAT SUCCESS! About 150 martini lovers showed up, raising their glasses — and thousands of dollars — to support the work of Guardian Family Services Women's Shelter in Metropolis!

Keith Ford has some gorgeous party pix on his Flickr page!

Mark your social calendars — The Harrah's Rooftop MARGARITA Party, benefiting iList Paducah sponsor St. Nicholas Clinic, is Friday, Aug. 14.

I'll drink to that!

Summer Festival Kickball? Game ON!

Oh, y'all. The 20/30 Group Kickball Invitational — set for Saturday, July 25 — it's gonna be BRUTAL. This is no friendly game you played in grammar school. It's gonna be a kickball smackdown, with music, food vendors and the all-important Beer on the Bricks going on at the same time.

Here's the schedule — I'm hoping a first aid station will be nearby:

Noon-12:30 p.m. McMurry & Livingston vs Denton & Keuler

12:45-1:15 p.m. Paducah Renaissance Alliance vs Paducah CVB

1:30-2 p.m. 20/30 Group vs Paducah Fire Department

2:15-2:45 p.m. Regions Bank vs Paducah Bank

3-3:30 p.m. Bristol Broadcasting vs WPSD

3:45-4:15 p.m. 20/30 Group vs 40/50 Group

Whaaaaaaa? The 20/30 Group is playing twice in one afternoon? Well, I reckon that's why they're the 20/30 Group. Show offs!

The 20/30 Group Kickball Invitational is sponsored by Regions Bank. All proceeds benefit the 20/30 Group, which provides professional development, networking and community service opportunities for the 20-39 year old demographic.

William Sledd's Got Paducah Bank, and Free iPod Shuffles, Up His Cyber Sleeve

Yep, the fab William Sledd is back with some exciting action up his well-dressed cyber sleeve. He's the new social media consultant for Paducah Bank, helping the bank connect more closely with customers in a tightly connected world he knows so well — the Web.

"Communication and the exchange of information are critical to our continued success, and many of our younger customers have come to rely almost exclusively on the social media for their source of information," says Paducah Bank CEO Joe Framptom. "The Internet, Twitter and Facebook have all become primary methods of communication. We believe it’s critical to stay in touch with our ‘friends’ and clients so that we can best serve the financial needs of all our customers at any age."

And who better to deposit that task with than a YouTube celebrity, right here in Paducah? William, of course, rose to cyber stardom after posting very funny fashion videos that he shot while working as a GAP employee at the Kentucky Oaks Mall. His images and slightly sarcastic — but always sweet — commentaries are loved by millions of viewers.

He's already creating great buzz for the bank. The Paducah Bank Facebook page he launched Monday already has more than 500 fans. And his Paducah Bank Twitter page now has more than 50 followers. Check back next week and those numbers will be HUGE.

“When I started thinking about how a bank is going to interact with everyday people in the world of Facebook walls and Tweets, I got energized and the ideas started rushing in,” Wiliam says. “We don't want to push information or products; we want to interact with the community, give some stuff away and have fun doing it. I'm just gonna say this to anyone who is following Paducah Bank on Twitter or Facebook: it's going to be exciting!”

To join in the fun, check out the Paducah Bank Facebook page and click "Become a Fan" at the top. And be sure to follow William's Paducah Bank Tweets on Twitter.

Keep an eye on both — William's giving away free iPods!

John Maxwell Will NOT Be There....

Backwoods BBQ, festive libations and DJUK at the deck! Don't miss this relaxed summer party for all Leadership Paducah grads! No PowerPoints and no John Maxwell presentations. I don't know about the guy in the photo, though. But he looks way more fun than John Maxwell.

Anyway, email Stacy Thomas for tix — we've got the full scoop on our site!

The Devil Wears Prada Party Pix

If you wanna see a great group of gorgeous women, check out Keith Ford's party pix from The Devil Wears Prada, last night's Maiden Alley Cinema Chick Flick!

The evening was sponsored by Medical Spa Seven which, by the way, is offering some really cool pampering packages — Laura K has all the scoop on iList Paducah this week!

The series title sponsor is Contemporary OB/GYN, with additional sponsorship from René Advertising and iList Paducah!

Word on the street is that Saturday Night Fever is coming up. So get out your disco dresses!

This Week's New Sponsors

A healthy and sweaty weekend is coming up in Paducah, with the annual FNB Kids’ Triathlon on July 25 and, for the first time in Western Kentucky, the “BIG” Kids’ Triathlon on July 26. We're a media sponsor for the "BIG" Kids event, so look for our logo on the back of the super-cool T-shirts! Both races benefit the Rehab Associates Foundation. If you're interested in participating, we've got all the scoop on iList Paducah!

Jasmine is open for lunch! Have a look at their awesome menu and head on over today!

I love Jennifer Wyatt. She's a certified professional coach, and she's just oh lá lá in everything she does. She's got a neat workshop coming up to teach young women, 13-18, some skills they'll need for success, like communicating with confidence and choosing healthy friendships. For more scoop, send Jennifer an email, and check out her Web site, HerExecutiveCoach.com.

And Martin Fierro Argentinean Grill, 314 Broadway, is now a regular iList Paducah sponsor. This is such a great restaurant and that Eugene and Santiago — talk about oh lá lá! Plus, the food is great, and they have all sorts of great offerings going on. They're now open on Mondays for lunch and dinner, every Wednesday is Ribeye Night and every Saturday they host an After Dinner Club with great drink and dessert specials.

I know all that because I'm on their email list, and they're awesome about reaching out once a week or so with various specials. To be added to their list, just send an email. And look for 'em on Facebook!

Welcome aboard, everyone!

7/20/2009

They're Drinkin' For Free!

Congrats to those who clicked on this banner ad on iList Paducah to be entered into the drawing for a free ticket to Harrah's Rooftop Martini Party! We also sent out a sponsored email for the event yesterday.

The winners are Bonnie Grace, Jennifer Thomas, Andrea Ivey, Joshua Comley, Cathryne, Ronda Gibson, Lisa Guill, Sarah Bynum, Shirley Lanier, Sharla McGee, Bill Fox, Laura Duff, Bobbi Evans, Billi Ingram, Jill Tucker, Mary Thompson, Julia Schaberg, Missy Carroll, B. Vasseur and Keith Ford!

I'll be emailing you each a certificate that you just present, with your ID, when you get to the event on Friday! Thanks for playing along! Loved the martini recipes that some of you sent!

If you didn't win, please still plan to go. The tix are $20 and the event benefits the Guardian Family Services Women's Shelter in Metropolis. As you may know, the Illinois State legislature is still debating the budget. The shelter is at risk of having huge budget cuts or potentially losing all funds. So this event comes at a much-needed time. So buy your tix here!

Dirt Daubers CD Release Party Pix!

I LOVE the Dirt Daubers and was sorry to miss their CD release party this weekend at Maiden Alley Cinema. Keith Ford has some fun photos of this hillbilly hootenanny on his Flickr page, though. Very nice pix of the Daubers, themselves — Colonel JD Wilkes (The Legendary Shack Shakers), his wife Jessica and "Slow" Layne Hendrickson — and lots of fun party guests! The CDs are $10 and can be purchased at MAC. Congrats, Dirt Daubers!

DJUK's SF Debut

DJ Urban Kobbb made his very successful San Francisco debut Saturday night at KoKo Cocktails — a small but snazzy bar on Geary between Van Ness and Polk. He played a great set, with lots of old and new friends stopping by to say hello. Many thanks to everyone for coming out! Here's a look:

Two Cool Paid Listings

We have two new paid listings on iList Paducah this week:

This one's from Chef Holly Heath. She's back in Paducah this summer and will cook up some healthy meals at a very reasonable price. I say spend the rest of the summer (and rest of the year!) away from the stove and let Holly hook you up! 816.4320.

And then there's a gorgeous home in LowerTown for sale — all redone, modern amenities and, if you buy it, we'll be neighbors! It's for sale by owner: 575.4595.

If you'd like to list something on iList Paducah that's not an actual event, zap me an email and we'll put together a very affordable paid listing for you!

7/16/2009

BOTRWAT Tonight!

I'm still out of town, but I know lots of great gals will be here! Business on the Rocks, with a Twist, 5:30 p.m., di Fratelli's! Stop by with your business ideas, career questions, success suggestions and powerful thirst, for a little informal brainstorming and inspirational beverages!

Bazooka Cover Boys: The Union Suit!

Woo-Hoo! The new issue of iDate Chrystal Galloway's Bazooka is OUT! Pick up a few copies at KCs, 45 Down Under and iList Paducah sponsors Roof Brothers and Fat Moe's! As soon as it's online, we'll link to it, too.

And looky here who's on the cover! It's The Union Suit hotties (photo by Jill Tanner). Chrystal — or as we fans call her, Bellablue — has a great interview with them. See 'em perform Friday, July 24 at the Paducah Summer Festival, around 6:30 p.m., Carson Center Lawn. So check 'em out!

And be sure to read Bellablue's story on The 48 Hour Project this week on iList Paducah!

Congratulations, Bella!

Hot New Banner Ads

We added some totally super cute banner ads to iList Paducah this week. The Rooftop Martini Party at Harrah's sounds fantastic, and it's for a good cause: the Guardian Family Services Women's Shelter in Metropolis. We've got 20 tix to give away. Want 'em? Just send me an email describing your favorite martini! I'll be drawing names on Monday, July 20 and will notify the winners then!

Did all the excitement last week leave you craving more Jasmine? Check it out! We've got the link to their online menu! People are raving about Paducah's newest restaurant. If you haven't been there, at least take a look at what they have to offer. Then GO!

And you know it's time for a new boat — why torture yourself any longer? Head to Green Turtle Bay Resort July 31-Aug. 2 and have a look. There's a boat to fit every budget — so you'll have cash left over for dinner at Jasmine and martinis on Harrah's rooftop!

Energy Reminder

Just a quick reminder that Energy Fitness is giving away three-month makeovers to two very deserving folks. It's all free, including the membership and childcare. All you have to do is tell Energy why you deserve this great opportunity — or, if you're already super fit, you can suggest someone else! Deadline: Aug. 10. Transformation begins Aug. 16. Details are here! Good luck!

And the Winners Are...

Congratulations to Anne Bidwell, Carol Harlan, Julia Schaberg Ronda Gibson and Shirley Lanier! They were the first five to respond to last week's free car wash offer from iList Paducah sponsor SNL Detail! (We had it on our iDate of the Week page and here on this blog.)

Watch iList Paducah for more great offers from our happy sponsors! If you're interested in having your business or fave non-profit represented on our site, just send me an email and we'll go through our growing list of affordable options!

Next Chick Flick: The Devil Wears Prada

OK gals and stylish guys: Our next Chick Flick at Maiden Alley Cinema is coming up! It's Tuesday, July 21 — one of my faves — The Devil Wears Prada. $25 for champagne, Artisan Kitchen hors d'oeuvres, music, fashion, goodie bags and more. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the movie starting at 7 p.m. Email Landee for tix!

Many thanks to Medical Spa 7, which is sponsoring the movie, and the series' title sponsor Contemporary OB/GYN, with support from René Advertising and, of course, iList Paducah!

Paducah Photo '09 Reception!

Congrats to our pal Joshua Comley! His image, "Two Street," was one of 74 selected for inclusion in the Paducah Photo '09 show. Very cool, given that there were 685 entries! (That, of course, is The Baker, Ginny and John Myrick in the image. It usually hangs in (iList Paducah sponsor) Kirchhoff's Bakery. And, by the way, this is Joshua's first photo contest!

Check out all the wonderful winners at the Paducah Photo '09 Reception, 5-7 p.m., Saturday, July 18, at the Yeiser Art Center. Sponsored by USEC, the Yeiser, Paducah Printing, Horizon Media Group and iList Paducah sponsor René Advertising! On display at the Yeiser through Aug. 29.

Up On The Roof: 20 Free Tix!

There are few things I enjoy more than a big ol' martini. The thought of having one (or two, a-hem) on the rooftop of Harrah's Metropolis — I mean, what could be better?

This morning, we sent out a sponsored email on behalf of Harrah's to help publicize their Friday, July 24 Rooftop Martini Party, which sounds totally fun and big city-fied (seems to be the theme lately!) AND it's for a good cause: benefiting the Guardian Family Services Women's Shelter in Metropolis.

We have 20 tickets to give away! All the scoop is here! Cheers!

Former, Latter, Tomato, Tah-Mah-Toe

The other day, @laurakstyle (that's Laura K's Twitter handle) posted a Tweet asking @grammargirl and @fritinancy — both are word experts — about the proper use of "former" and "latter" when listing three items. Laura K received immediate Tweets back, and, though CLEARLY she knows the difference between the two, geeze, her question did inspire today's topic in Grammar Girl's very helpful Quick and Dirty Tips — a free email she sends to her gazillions of subscribers each day!

Way to go, Laura K!

To sign up for Grammar Girl's tips (I get 'em) visit her Web site. She also does audiobooks, podcasts and lots of other really cool stuff.

We Always Gotta Be Startin' Somethin'

I don't know what it is about Robyn Shapiro and Laura K. Whenever I'm with them, wine just magically pours itself from never-ending bottles and ideas just start flying all over the place. And before you know it, we've added more to-dos to our lists. But they're always fun to-dos and we three love brainstorming and working on stuff together.

And thus, we've begun calling ourselves The GTGs.

We'll officially unveil the full, unabbreviated name, and our plans, at our three-way GTG Birthday Blowout birthday party! It's 9 p.m., Friday, July 31, at di Fratelli, with beats by DJ Urban Kobbb and Tony Foo Yong drinks by our favorite bartographer Brian Steffen. Everyone's invited, and your first round is on us! Dress to impress — paparazzi will be in the house!

We sure do!

Oh, Yeah, We're TOTALLY Big City-fied!

Y'all, this is very cool. The 48 Hour Film Project is coming to Maiden Alley Cinema, Aug. 14-16, and Landee Bryant is the producer for it. This is something that goes on in, like, Chicago and New York and Los Angeles. And now, for the first time ever, PADUCAH!

We'll have more details this week on iList Paducah from our movie industry correspondent Bellablue. But the gist of it is that on Friday night, Aug. 14, you'll get a movie genre, character, a prop and a line of dialogue that you must include in your movie. Then you have 48 hours to make a movie and turn it over to Landee. The movies will be screened at Maiden Alley soon after — and then, if yours makes the cut, CANNES!

For more info, check out the 48 Hour Web site and Maiden Alley's 48 Hour page.

If you're interested in making movies, grab a team and sign up by July 27!

But How's the Food?

Jasmine certainly looks all Big City-fied, but how's the food? Suzanne Clinton's take: "I cannot, CANNOT recommend it highly enough." And that woman knows a thing or two about Pad Thai.

Jasmine Opening: Now We're Big City-fied!

Some of you may know that I'm in San Francisco for another week or two, and I've been missing out on all the fun stuff going on in Paducah, including the opening to open all openings: Jasmine! My new young friends Kara and David were the prime PR and advertising folks for the opening, and came to iList Paducah early on as a way to help spread the word. Nikki, DJUK and I loved helping out, and so I was very sorry to miss all the action.

That's the owner, Art (super cute!), with Kara and Christa Dubrock, at the opening. Christa took this cute photo of DJUK, who provided the music for the evening:

Mayor Paxton, of course, and David... And a few other fun pix:

Actually, Jasmine hosted TWO big events last week. The other was the July 7 Paint Your Palate fundraiser for the Paducah Arts Alliance. Both events were a great success:

Congratulations to Jasmine's wonderful team. We're thrilled to have you in Paducah! Jasmine is located at Jordan's Crossing. The number is 442.0000.

Sanctuary Snaps

I'm a little late with these fab photos from Bellablue of Bazooka. They're from the July 3 opening of Sanctuary, the cool new music venue from Gabe The Babe Camacho. The Union Suit headlined, along with The Hi Fi Ninja and Roscoe, with beats by DJUK kicking off the party.

Jill Tanner and tons of other beautiful people were there....

Folks even got inked — Sanctuary is located inside Bobby's Inkslingers, after all!

I hear it was a great show, and Gabe has talent lined up for the next several weekends. All the shows are on iList Paducah, as well as on Sanctuary's MySpace page.

Gabe and Ryan Whittaker give a special shout out to big supporter Paul Signa of Doe's, Joshua Comley for designing the rockin' Sanctuary logo and sharing his art during the opening and all the bands and friends who've given their time and energy to the project.

Thanks for the scoop, Bellablue! Look for the next issue of Bazooka soon!

7/07/2009

It's Here!

Just a reminder: There's the benefit tonight (Tuesday, July 7), and the big fabulous grand opening Thursday, July 9!

More Free Stuff!

SNL Detail loves 'em some iList Paducah. We've had owners Scotty and Lisa Davis as advertisers for quite some time. They emailed us the other day about the great response they've received by advertising with us — YAY! — and as a thank you, they're offering a FREE OUTSIDE CAR WASH to the first five iList Paducah readers who send them an email.

The offer is on our iDate of the Week page, which you'll want to go to anyway because we're featuring cute, cute, cute Bill Ford, the famous interior designer.

SNL totally rocks — they take care of my car, and I couldn't be happier with their service. Good luck! Let me know if you win and how it goes!

Free Three-Month Makeovers!

Y'all, for reals. Energy Fitness wants to hear why you deserve a free three-month makeover, including a complimentary Midtown membership — and make it personal! Already super fit? Then suggest a friend! Two lucky winners will be picked. Deadline: Aug. 10. Transformation begins Aug. 16. Details are here! Good luck!

Oops, Flocked Again!

Maybe the flamingos need a little Botox?

Laura K. reports that the flock migrated to Medical Spa 7 the other day! It's all in good fun, to raise money for the Wildcats Fast Pitch girls' softball teams. Wanna flock someone? Call Gabrielle Mitchell, 331.1598, for details!

Photo by Brian Steffen, of course, our favorite bartographer from di Fratelli, where he serves $1 drafts with any food purchase!

Business on the Rocks Tonight!

It's Business on the Rocks, with a Twist tonight, 5:30 p.m., di Fratelli's! We had a great turn out last week, so please come again tonight with your business ideas, career questions, success suggestions and powerful thirst, for a little informal brainstorming and inspirational beverages.

I'm out of town, but lots of other great women will be there — so please plan to stop by!

New Ad and Chick Flick: Medical Spa 7

Medical Spa 7 is a longtime sponsor of iList Paducah. I love that place — Leah Hagel is an expert at skin care, the massages are amazing and in the mani/pedi room is exactly what a mani/pedi room should be. Darling!

The spa has hired the lovely Laura K as marketing and PR consultant and has placed a new banner ad on our site to promote Botox, Juvéderm, Radiesse, Lipodissolve, Spider Vein Injection, and Laser Sclerotherapy. So call 554.0090 for your complimentary consultation — and Buy Local!

Also on the Medical Spa 7 front, they're sponsoring the Tuesday, July 21 Maiden Alley Cinema Chick Flick: The Devil Wears Prada. $25 for champagne, Artisan Kitchen hors d'oeuvres, music, fashion, goodie bags and more. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the movie starting at 7 p.m. Email Landee for tix!

Many thanks to Medical Spa 7!

A Shout Out for Kara and David

Y'all, I love Kara and David. They're sooo excited about helping with the grand opening of Jasmine next week. And I know we're all sooo excited to have Jasmine come to Paducah!

The grand opening is 4 p.m., Thursday, July 9. So be sure to stop by. DJUK's got the beats going for it — it should be quite the swank affair.

And in addition to that, for a super cool sneak peek, Jasmine is doing a benefit starting at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, benefiting the Paducah Arts Alliance, complete with a Paducah Symphony violinist for entertainment. It's going to be a super event, so email Kara for tix. Just $50.

By the way, vote for your favorite Q2 iDates of the Week and you'll be entered into a drawing for a free drink at Jasmine!

Is Facebook Predicting Marriages Now?

Bruce Brockenborough joined us all on Facebook a week or two ago. And as part of his page, he indicated that he and I are hitched. Evidently, Facebook didn't believe him, so they sent me the above message. Sorry it's so small, but it says: "Bruce said on Facebook that you two are married. We need you to confirm that you are, in fact, married to Bruce."

I had to laugh because of all the great parts of my happy, happy life, being married to Bruce Brockenborough is, no doubt, my VERY FAVORITE THING. EVER. So I was absolutely thrilled to confirm that little piece of information.

After I clicked to confirm, another message popped up that said something like: "This is your last relationship request."

And I'm all, right on! But wow, how do they know? Is Facebook predicting people's marriage success rates now?

I appreciate the vote of confidence, Facebook Team! No more relationship requests? For that I say: Thank the Good Lord and AMEN. It took a little extra time, but I'm very thankful that I got just the one relationship request that I was hoping for.
